Privacy Policy

This document is being finalised with an attorney.

It will describe what personal information Gitza collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept, who it is shared with, and how to ask for a copy of it or have it deleted.

What happens today is worth stating plainly rather than waiting for the document. An account on git.gitza.co.za stores your username, email address, a hash of your password and whatever you push or write there, on servers in South Africa. Your email address is private by default. Account emails (confirmation, password reset, notifications) are sent through a South African mail service.

This site counts visits with a self-hosted, cookieless analytics service in South Africa. It sets no cookie, and no third-party service sits in the request path. If you asked to hear about launch before registration opened, your email address and any optional answers are stored in a database in South Africa. Nothing is sold or shared.

To have your data removed, email hello@gitza.co.za from the address you signed up with and it will be deleted.
